Requirements in South Africa
What you need to fly with us.
Kiteshot jobs are flown under Part 101 of the Civil Aviation Regulations, set by the SACAA. A person checks every pilot's documents.
Have an RPL but no ROC?
Join the partner ROC programme and fly Kiteshot jobs under a partner operator's certificate. Choose No ROC yet when you apply.
Remote Pilot Licence (RPL)
Issued by SACAA, with the class and ratings for the drone you fly.
A valid RPAS Operator Certificate (ROC)
Fly under your own ROC or a partner's. Hold an RPL but no ROC? Our partner ROC programme lets you fly Kiteshot jobs under a partner operator's certificate.
Aircraft registration and Letter of Approval
Each drone registered with SACAA, with an RPAS Letter of Approval (RLA).
Third-party liability insurance
Insurance for commercial flights, in your name or your ROC holder's name.

Do I need my own drone?
Yes. You fly your own drone, registered and insured for commercial work. The application shows which job types your drone suits.
How is the pay set?
Each job has a fixed rate, shown on the offer before you accept. There's no bidding against other pilots. If the brief changes after you accept, we agree the new pay with you first.
When do I get paid?
Within 7 days of an accepted upload. We check your files against the brief. If something is missing, we tell you exactly what to re-shoot or re-upload.
Does it cost anything to join?
No. There are no sign-up fees, and you never pay to see or accept jobs.
Do I edit the photos or make the maps?
No. Upload the original files. Our team does the editing, maps, reels and reports, and deals with the customer.
What if the weather is bad?
Every job comes with a date window, so you can pick a good day. If you cannot fly on any day in the window, tell us and we move it.
I have an RPL but no ROC. Can I join?
Yes. Choose No ROC yet when you apply. Through our partner ROC programme you fly Kiteshot jobs under a partner operator's certificate. We explain the terms before you sign anything.
How soon will I get work?
After your document check and a paid test job, offers depend on demand near your base. Most work today is in the Western Cape and Gauteng.

Yes. Accept the offers that suit you and say no to the rest.
